Testimonials
Very grateful to Larry for his in-depth notes on my novel. His insight sent me down several darker and deeper avenues of thought which caused me to explore new themes and build a stronger foundation. Overall the book and its characters, language, and story are better from his reading.
About Me
Professionally, I have enjoyed introducing young people to great literature for the past thirty years. I taught 110 different titles across many genres, countries, and historical periods. I have taught classes in murder mysteries, contemporary novels, magical realism, and literature from Europe, Africa, Latin America, and Asia. Along with literary analysis, I have taught creative writing and the art of writing book reviews. Having earned a BA and MA in literature, I have spent my adult life teaching high school English literature and composition. My classes are a wonderful mix of the classics and modern fiction.
Personally, literature has been my constant companion. Other people talk of the “soundtrack of their lives,” but books mark my life: My godmother -a librarian- gave me Charlie and the Chocolate Factory when I was five; my eighth-grade language arts teacher beautifully read aloud To Kill a Mockingbird; my sophomore English teacher gifted me The Stranger; my mentor in college, A Room of One’s Own. I read debut novels hoping to find new ways to see and hear the world and keep informed about new movements in the literary world.
